At 4 PM on November 8, the Lawrence Committee held a monthly town hall meeting over zoom. The following are the minutes of that meeting.
- The committee will now be meeting on the second Tuesday of every month at 4:30 PM through January.
- The election committee announced the election results and the new Lawrence Committee members are listed below:
- President: Hassan Sayed
- Grants Manager: Harry Fetsch
- Secretary: Hannah Rabb
- Social Chair: Kristin Isaacs
- Garden Events Manager: Kimmie Sabsay
- Garden Coordinator: Liz Helfenberger
- Facilities Manager: Josh Lederman
- External Relations Delegate: Mimi Borders
- The committee discussed safety concerns and theft around Lawrence including package theft and catalytic converter theft.
- There have been discussions occurring among the highest levels of university administration regarding security concerns on campus.
- The committee discussed potentially working with public safety to develop communications about common sense safety practices for community members. This messaging would highlight tangible actions residents can take to increase safety. It would also make sure not to target specific community members.
- The committee discussed efforts to increase the Graduate School annual contribution to the Lawrence Committee budget.
- The committee has had only $1000 per year since 2015, so the committee would like to ask the Graduate School for more funding. The committee would collaborate with Lakeside to request more funding.
- The committee believes it needs an increase in funding because it has implemented many activities this year and has spent the entire budget.
- The committee has effectively found extra funding from other sources, such as the GSG, however, there is a limit on how much funding the committee can request.
