Dear Lawrence residents,
At 4:30 PM on March 20, the Lawrence Committee held a monthly Town Hall meeting over Zoom. The following are the minutes of that meeting.
- Art Contest
- We have collected submissions for art to be hung in the Lawrence common rooms. All the submissions were approved for voting.
- You can now vote for your favorite art here!
- Shopping Carts
- The Lawrence Committee has purchased shopping carts to help residents bring in groceries
- Please return these to the designated location promptly after use!
- Clothing Swap
- The event went well! Attendance was around 15 and we had many bags of clothes to donate at the end. Thanks to everyone who attended!
- Lawrence will be holding a Wine and Cheese Night April 9th. See our previous email
- Spouse/DP listserv
- Registered domestic partners and spouses can opt-in to get Facilities work notices and ongoing project impact notifications from Housing Operations
- Sign up here (the last bullet on the bottom of the page)
- Noise complaints Building 14
- There are still noise complaints on the third floor. This is due to the building itself rather than a resident. So far the source of the noise has not been identified.
- They are working really hard to resolve this issue. Thank you to facilities, housing, and the affected residents for being so diligent and patient!
- Dirty laundry machines in building 14
- To prevent messing up the laundry machines for others, the committee suggests wiping off large debris from heavily soiled items outside and rinsing them in the sink inside before washing.
- A reminder to residents to check under the rubber gasket when cleaning out machines after use.
- Parking lot lights
- The lights in the north lot are back on after the storm knocked them out for two nights.
- We have reported our concerns regarding the frequency of outdoor lighting outages to the Outdoor Lighting for Safety and Security Working Group
- TPS meeting update (Katie)
- Committee members met with TPS to discuss issues with parking and transportation on campus
- Issues with the transit schedule should be reported as soon as possible
- A bus is considered late if it is more than 5 minutes behind schedule
- Buses should not be waiting at the stop longer than a minute and should not be leaving before the posted stop time
- Incidents can be reported to the TPS website (https://transportation.princeton.edu/form/tell-us-about-tigertransit)
- Reports can also be made through TripShot (create an account/log in, navigate to the left-hand menu and select “Help & Feedback”)
- All reported incidents are reviewed by TPS and their transit operator
- Grad student population has increased in recent years, and a greater fraction of them at all residences have been claiming their residential parking permits
- Parking lots are mostly full by 1am, and they are less crowded at 7am and 7pm
- If it is difficult to find parking, one can cross-park at a different residence and commute home by TigerTransit
- More data regarding vehicle ownership trends are needed before planning and implementing big changes
- TPS provides services, such as carshare and TigerTransit access to local shopping to help reduce the need for personal vehicles
- TPS collects feedback on these services and local transportation needs to make improvement
Best regards,
The Lawrence Committee
